Mae Link, 27, is excited to rejoin Moondance for her sixth summer as a leader and her seventh overall. Mae hails from Charlotte, North Carolina but did most of her “growing up” in her experiences living abroad. She began by spending a semester of her senior year of high school as the only foreign exchange student in a small town in the Spanish countryside. She has also lived for six months with a host family in Chambery, France before spending a summer helping to convert a coffee and banana plantation in Columbia into a certified organic farm. Her last summer before graduating from the College of Charleston was spend in Argentina studying with the Foundation for Sustainable Development. Mae is a true student of the outdoors, as evidenced by her participation as a student on a NOLS and Outward Bound adventure in addition to having gone on Moondance’s Pacific Northwest trip. Her time traveling the world and seeing all that it has to offer has sparked an interest in her to share her experiences and love with others. Mae has led our Costa Rica, Pacific Northwest, Hawaiian Islands, and Machu Picchu trips in the past and her students quickly fell in love with her knowledge and passion for the world. We are so happy that Mae has made it back for another summer on what figures to be a memorable and exciting trip discovering all that Ecuador and the timeless Galapagos Islands have to offer!
Kit Burgin, 23, is a first time Moondance leader that we are very excited to have joining our amazing staff for this summer! Kit grew up in Atlantic Beach, Florida, a coastal town adjacent to Jacksonville, where he instantly gravitated to ocean and grew into a very accomplished amateur surfer. Kit is a graduate of Washington and Lee University where he was a four year letterman in soccer in addition to volunteering his time in the greater community. After graduating, Kit briefly entered into the business world before embarking on a year long journey to Argentina and South America. He traveled down to the Patagonia and spent a few weeks trekking north to meet up with a school in a small beach town near Buenos Aires where he has since been teaching English as a second language. Outside of traveling and soccer, Kit can usually be found hitting the trails on his mountain bike or in his hiking boots, kayaking, climbing, or doing anything outdoors that feels good. Moondance is pleased to welcome Kit to the Moondance family and we look for great things from his Ecuador/Galapagos adventure this summer!
