Teen Wilderness Adventure Programs

Multisport Adventures

Our Multisport Adventures are designed for those participants who wish to experience thrilling multi-sport action within a 2 to 3 week period. Activities may include rafting, sea kayaking, rock climbing, backpacking and fly fishing. Generally, these trips are designed for students who are looking to learn multiple outdoor skills at a moderate level of difficulty. Many students who sign up for our Mountain Adventures have little or no previous experience in outdoor activities, yet they leave with a better grasp of the skills needed in multiple areas. This is a video from the backpacking section of our Big Wild course, which is a multisport adventure that includes backpacking, fly fishing, overnight rafting, and climbing. Check it out. There are many more great adventures below.

Leadership Adventures

Students who participate on our Leadership Adventures seek more of a challenge out of their Moondance experience. These trips often feature an extended backpacking section as well as more technical mountaineering sections on peaks like Mount Rainier (Moondance Leadership) and the Grand Teton (Grand Ascents). Leaders step back and let the students run the day, allowing students to improve their leadership skills in areas like backcountry cooking, navigation and group management. Most of our Leadership Adventures students have had previous experience in a wilderness setting. However, no experience is needed or required for any of our programs.

Service Adventures

Moondance gives back to the community with our Service Adventures, as we travel across the globe to promote unity and goodwill. Service adventures feature community service credit hours that can be used towards high school graduation or college acceptance requirements. During our community service adventures, we spend our time in direct contact with indigenous people from local villages and communities. Our community service projects range from teaching English, painting and repairing community schools and caring for orphans to ecology based projects such as reforestation and Leatherback sea turtle rescue. Many students who participate in our Service Adventures have little or no previous experience in outdoor activities.
