COMMUNITY SERVICE
You will work with a local school just outside of Arusha. This organization is called the Indigenous Education Foundation of Tanzania and they operate a secondary school. You will spend time in the classroom, doing art projects, playing soccer, and be culturally immersed into the local community. Learning about the culture and valued traditions of these local Tanzanian villages, you’ll find that underneath, it isn’t that different from your own.
TREKKING - KILIMANJARO
Standing at 19,340 feet, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa as well as the largest "walkable" mountain in the world. It is comprised of three extinct volcanoes and is the largest free standing mountain in the world. You and your group will spend eight days exploring this incredible mountain via the famous Machame Route. Accompanied by professional climbing guides, you’ll spend seven days gaining over 12,000 feet of elevation in order to reach the base camp before the summit. Abundant with beautifully exotic flora and fauna, including blue monkeys, olive baboons, enormous crowned eagle, and if you’re lucky… a rhinoceros, each day will be even more phenomenal than the last, only to be topped off by your summit day. Surrounded by Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, and after much determination and perseverance, your group will reach Uhuru Peak, the top of Kilimanjaro. Rewarded with a panoramic view of the sensational African wilderness, your group will feel nothing short of accomplished.
SAFARI - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK & NGORONGORO CRATER
Located in the northwestern part of Tanzania, Serengeti National Park covers over 2,600 square miles and makes up 14% of Tanzania’s land. For the next two days, your group will have the incredible opportunity to explore the most densely populated area of large mammals in the world. Have your camera ready, because it is here that you will see elephants, zebra, wildebeest and even lions! With the largest concentration of lions in the world, the Serengeti is the perfect place to attempt to spot this elusive animal. You’ll venture over to the Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, a conservation area that has been the site of fossils dating back over three million years… so keep your eyes peeled! Winding through Africa’s tall prairie grass, under its magnificent Baobab Trees, and across its beautiful rivers as your group watches the sun set over the Serengeti, it will be a perfect ending to an amazing trip.
